Why did we choose to work with alpaca?
Alpaca is classified as a "noble" fiber due to its incomparable properties, which we detail here:
- Maximum resistance (up to three times more resistant than sheep's wool), which makes garments made with it super durable.
- High flexibility , ideal for ensuring freedom of movement for our pets, and adaptability to the contour of the body , providing full comfort during use.
- Soft and very light texture , because its core is hollow, which in turn makes it very breathable .
- It has a shiny and silky appearance , which remains that way over time. Its shiny fibers prevent the fabric from shrinking or wrinkling.
- It is also a hypoallergenic fabric.
- It is an insulator against external temperatures, both from heat, due to its fireproof properties , and from cold.
- The texture of its yarn protects it from water, odours and stains . Ideal for dogs to enjoy their walks outdoors.
And, if all this were not enough, it is also a 100% sustainable material , because its manufacturing process is free of chemical treatments, and requires less water and detergent than most wools.
Because it is biodegradable.
And because it is so durable, and does not require washing as frequently as other wools due to its properties detailed above.
